About Susan Stevens Pickett, Psy.D., L.P.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in South Carolina. An Atlanta
native, I completed all of my education in Georgia with a Masters
Degree from the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, and my
doctorate (Psy.D.) from Argosy University in Atlanta. My course work
and practica in school focused on children and adolescents both in
therapy and psychological testing. I had planned on specializing in
child and adolescent psychology but my internship in New Jersey only
had a minor focus on working with children. Despite my
disappointment with this I feel I gained invaluable knowledge that
encompasses a diverse population.
After completing my internship in New Jersey I moved to North Carolina
in 1998 and worked in a variety of settings: mental health center,
assisted living and nursing centers, and for the State with disability
determination.
Two years ago I moved to South Carolina with my husband and
daughter. Since then we have had another daughter and now face the
ever wonderful and changing goals of parenthood.
I am now able to return to my first passion of working with children and
adolescents. I bring a wealth of experience to the therapeutic setting
and will use a holistic (healthy mind and body) approach to resolving
your issues. Using cognitive behavioral techniques, play therapy with
children, and active participation by the client in solution focused
therapy, I will help you and/or you and your child or adolescent resolve
your issues and problems.
I am a member of the National Register of Health Service Providers in
Psychology.
